這些動詞均有“連接、結合、聯合”之意。join: 側重把原來不相連接的物緊密地連接在一起,但仍可再分開。也指把分散的人或幾個部分的人聯合起來,或加入到某團體中去。
combine: 指兩個或兩個以上的人或物結合在一起。
unite: 指聯合、團結、結合在一起,構成一個整體。
connect: 指兩事物在某一點上相連接,但彼此又保持獨立。
link: 指連環(huán)式的連接,或用接合物或其它方式連接,還可指一事物與另一事物的聯系或關系。
attach: 指把局部連接在整體上,小的接在大的上面,活動的接在固定的上面。
couple: 專指連接兩件東西,或把事物成對進行連接。
associate: 指人與人友好和平、平等地聯合在一起;用于物時,指兩事物因歷史或其它原因,很自然被人們聯系在一起,即產生聯想。
relate: 指人與人有親戚或婚煙關系;也指人或物之間尚存的實際或假想的聯系。
